How to play Tilt Tray
A tray sits in perspective. Tilt it so a ball rolls into a hole. Falling off the tray costs a life. There is no putt meter and no cup on a green. Resting in the hole scores; consecutive holes multiply. Putt Line is the 2D cousin if you wanted a charge bar.
A dish, not a putt meter
Tilt Tray is a 3D marble dish. Play it when you want gravity and a rest, not a putt meter, and when a still puzzle would be too static but a runner would be too loud.
A rest in the hole, not a flyover
The tray is a purple slab. The hole is the dark square. The ball is the yellow box. Off the edge is a life. A flyover of the hole is not a score; a rest inside it is.
Short tilt, then wait
You tilt a little, wait, reverse a hair, and let the ball settle. Consecutive holes come from that rest, not from slapping the tray.
Full-tilt holds dump the ball
Was it a full-tilt hold, or a chase after a fast ball? Next three holes, shorter tilts. If you wanted a charge bar to a cup, open Putt Line.
If you wanted line then power to a cup
This is not Putt Line. Putt Line is a 2D green with line then power. Tilt Tray has no meter. You tilt a dish in perspective until the ball sits.
Why we refused a charge bar
A putt meter on a 3D tray became Putt Line with extra polygons. The verb is tilt-and-wait. Lives exist because the edge is a real miss, not a shuffled hypothesis. The hole moves so you cannot memorize one slope.
Controls
Tilt the tray with WASD, arrows, or by dragging. The ball rolls with gravity. There is no putt meter and no charge bar. Resting in the hole scores. Falling off the tray costs a life.
Scoring and lives
Each hole scores, and consecutive holes multiply. A fall costs a life and resets the streak. Three lives. The next hole moves. Speed of the ball is yours to refuse; a slow rest scores, a flyover does not.
Habits that raise the ceiling
Tilt a little, then wait. Overshooting the hole is the usual miss. If the ball is fast, reverse tilt early rather than slamming the opposite edge.
Common mistakes
- Holding full tilt until the ball flies off
- Chasing the hole with constant motion instead of a rest
- Treating this like Putt Line’s charge-and-release
A two-minute drill
Sink three holes while refusing to hold a key for more than a beat. Count rests, not flicks. The hole wants a stop, not a slap.
A longer sitting: three rests, not three slaps
Sink three holes while refusing a long hold. The rest is the verb. A flyover is not a score. Lives exist because the edge is a miss you can name: too much tilt, or a chase after a fast ball.
This is a puzzle with a little gravity, not a sports meter. If you wanted line-then-power, Putt Line is the cousin. If the tray’s pitch feels dizzy, Lights Out still exists. Stop when the three holes are done, even if a new hole looks easy.
Three holes with short tilts. The Tilt Tray guide is the rest-in-the-hole article.
